To celebrate the special and significant role of teachers in life and leadership, Lim Siong Guan and Joanne H Lim, the co-authors of The Leader, The Teacher & You and Winning with Honour, established THE LEADING FOUNDATION in 2013 to support programmes in education and leadership, with a special interest in nurturing educators.
Since 2014, THE LEADING FOUNDATION has been sponsoring The Leading Foundation Teacher Award (TLFTA) annually to honour outstanding early childhood, special education, and allied educators in Singapore. The Leading Foundation Teacher Award was the first award established in Singapore to honour excellence in early childhood and special needs education.
The Leading Foundation Teacher Award encourages and recognises excellence in the early childhood, special education, and allied education sectors by:
- Rewarding and honouring exemplary educators who show exceptional dedication by going beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the lives of their students, their students’ families, and their co-workers.
- Affirming the pivotal role of teachers in the care and development of students, especially pre-school children and children with special needs in Singapore.
The awards are administered by the National Institute of Education (NIE) and the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS).
All nominations for The Leading Foundation Teacher Award are assessed by a panel of experts from NIE, the Ministry of Education, and the Association for Early Childhood Educators (Singapore).
